Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) stimulates the adrenal glands, increases production of cortisone and other adrenal hormones that are important for healthy skin and nerves. B5 has shown to reduce the toxic effects of many antibiotics. Additionally, it plays role in the prevention of premature aging. This stress-buster also helps build the antibodies required to fight against infection.
A deficiency of vitamin B5 has been associated with vomiting, restlessness, abdominal pains, burning feet, muscle cramps, insulin sensitivity, decreased antibody formation and upper respiratory infections. Other associations include skin disorders, adrenal exhaustion, low blood sugar and duodenal ulcers.
