Manufacturer Description

The use of blessed thistle dates back to the Greek and Roman era. The story of how the blessed thistle earned its "blessed" name is fascinating:
King Charlemagne (742 - 814 AD) found himself in a dire situation: while campaigning, his troops suddenly fell ill to the plague. At this point in time the plague was essentially a death sentence.

He reported that while sleeping, an angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel instructed him to fire an arrow into the air, and where it lands, he will find the plant medicine to treat his men.

Following the angel's instructions, Charlemagne fired his arrow and followed to find its target: the arrow landed in a great patch of Cnicus Benedictus. He fed the plant to his men; they recovered and avoided death as the angel promised. Cnicus Benedictus here became known as the "Blessed Thistle."

Throughout history, blessed thistle has been used for many situations.
As a bitter herb, it's widely used to tonify digestion and relieve gas, bloating and indigestion. As you may know, proper assimilation of nutrients is paramount to optimum health. The bitter compounds of blessed thistle stimulate the stomach's digestive juices in a unique way, increasing assimilation.

Blessed thistle helps strengthen and detoxify the liver, stimulating bile flow, boosting circulation and purifying the blood. This herb also helps to stimulate/increase breast milk production of nursing mothers, benefits cramps and female problems, and supports the heart.

Blessed thistle contains the following nutrients and phytochemicals:
Beta-carotene, beta-sitosterol, cnicin, ferulic acid, kaempferol, luteolin, oleanolic acid, stigmasterol, calcium, essential fatty acids, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, sodium, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, B3, and C.*
